Primary Function
The telemetry nursing assistant works under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. Under supervision the incumbent is responsible for a variety of cardiac monitoring or nursing assistant and clerical duties as established by the Nurse Manager. The float telemetry nursing assistant’s primary function is to provide continuous cardiac monitoring, interpretation, and documentation of cardiac rate, rhythm, and patterns of conduction for the Inpatient Unit. Primary support is given to the Inpatient Department. Responsibilities include continuous cardiac monitoring and direct and indirect patient care. The telemetry nursing assistance performs accurate and prompt recognition and immediate notification of licensed staff (RN, MD) of any changes from the patient’s baseline in regards to cardiac rhythm, sustained rate changes, vital sign changes, and/or potentially life-threatening dysrhythmias. Provides general clerical support coordination work for the unit. The telemetry nursing assistant is expected to perform additional duties as assigned by the Nurse Supervisor when not assigned to telemetry monitoring.

Must be flexible in working hours. Work is performed in the hospital setting, which is responsible for treating patients with a wide variety of medical problems. Incumbent is frequently exposed to communicable diseases. Incumbent is required to comply with Employee health program guidelines. Sometimes will be able to wear Personal protective equipment as required by hospital policy
