Job Responsibilities & Qualifications:
PRIMARY FUNCTION

This incumbent is responsible for participation in Infection Control and Employee Health Activities.
These activities include prevention, surveillance, and documentation to reduce the transmission of infections (COVID) and promote a healthy workplace environment.
This incumbent maintains liaison and collaboration with other employees, departments, agencies, and community organizations in preserving the community’s public health.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor Degree in Nursing or equivalent.
• At least 2 years experience as a Registered Nurse in a clinical setting and experience reflects knowledge of Infection Control techniques or has certification as an Infection Control Specialist.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) is required for the position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be substituted for BCLS.
• Applicant must have an unrestricted valid Registered Nurse license within the state of North Carolina or a state that is accepted as reciprocity.

JOB KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of principles, practices, techniques, and theories of professional nursing in order to plan and provide nursing care to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual, and socio-cultural needs of patients of all ages; specifically, Infancy (Birth-1 year), Toddler and Early Childhood (2-5 Years), Latency (6-9 years), Preadolescence (10-12 years), Early Adolescence (13-15 years), Adolescence (16-20 years), Adult (21-64 years), and Elderly (65+ years).

Knowledge of the nursing process and its application to clinical practice.

Knowledge of disease process, health care treatment and systems, and treatment protocols.

Knowledge of infection control and employee health principles and practices including epidemiology, communicable disease, and occupational health.

Knowledge and ability to analyze the results of various medical procedures and translate onto appropriate plans of care.

Knowledge and ability to independently plan and organize work in order to meet priorities, accomplish work within established time frames and work in stressful situations.

Knowledge of the culture and health profile of the patient population.

Knowledge of processes and procedures for establishing, revising, continually monitoring, and evaluating standards for Infection Control, Employee Health, and Disinfection and Sterilization.

Knowledge of Electronic Health Record documentation.

Professional Communication skills are a must. Must communicate and interact with all other employees, community members, and employees of surrounding health care facilities.

Knowledge of JCAHO accreditation standards, nursing quality improvement standards, IHS, CDC, and OSHA regulations.

Knowledge of clinical teaching methodologies and methods of evaluating the effectiveness of teaching strategies.
