Job Responsibilities & Qualifications:
Job Summary

Seeks funding to support the hospital’s mission, goals, and operating objectives. Identifies relevant grant opportunities and facilitates grant partnerships; coordinates the development, writing and submission of grant proposals to third party entities including foundations and state and federal agencies; conducts research with CIHA departments and programs, interprets requirements; submission of reports and other related tasks during the pre-award, post-award and grant period. This position reports to the Manager of Contracting.

Education/Experience/Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, English, Writing, or related field required.
• Two years of experience in grant writing or the management of administrative activities of a business or governmental program; or other combination of education and experience that achieves equivalent competency.

Job Knowledge

• Excellent written communication skills.
• Knowledge of administrative requirements regarding local, state, and Federal grants.
• Ability to effectively catalogue related records and files electronically.
• Knowledge of grant development and management principles.
• Ability to develop and submit grants and other proposals.
• Ability to determine informational needs, to research, collect, and analyze information, and to devise and develop statistical analyses and reports.
• Skilled in word processing, creating effective spreadsheets, and database management.
• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
• Skilled in research methods.
• Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications including Word, Excel and Access required.
• Willingness to learn more about Cherokee culture/population.
