Primary Function    

To assist the Administrator and the department managers to maintain systems that are effective and efficient to operate Tsali Care Center in a manner to safely meet residents’ needs in compliance with federal, state and local requirements.  To maintain systems that are effective and efficient to operate Tsali Care Center in a financially sound manner.

           

Job Description

  • Must have a thorough knowledge of long term care regulations.
  • Should have a thorough knowledge of personnel management, CIHA Personnel Policies andProcedures and poses the ability to apply both in dealing with staff.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of the office procedures, policies and guidelines of the Tsali Care Center and the CIHA.
  • Prepare staff payroll information for processing.
  • Assist Administrator with monthly Health Board reports.Delivers all reports in Administrators absence.
  • Report to the Administrator, either in verbal or written form, all the duties performed during the Administrator’s absence.
  • Identify and manage all emergencies pertaining to the facility in the absence of the Administrator.
  • Enforce the facility policies and procedures in the absence of the Administrator.
  • Arbitrate complaints and disputes concerning residents, families and personnel in Administrator’s absence.
  • Assist with inspections performed by regulatory agencies, as assigned, in the absence of the Administrator.
  • Must have through knowledge of grammatical skills to prepare routine reports articles, correspondence, legal documents, contracts and Memorandum of Agreements.
  • Leads and reports all resident investigations of abuse, misappropriation, neglect, and reports to proper authorities within regulated time frames.
  • Performs various secretarial duties such as typing, filing, data entry, taking minutes at meetings and record keeping
  • Complies and collates data to prepare reports and summaries and forwards (when approved) to appropriate office/agency (CIHA, tribe, state and federal).
  • Participates in the development of new forms, or creation of paper paths that will improve documentation or facilitate the flow of work.
  • Knowledge of medical billing process in NC.A Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid billing preferred.
  • Meets with department heads to discuss departmental goals, problems and PI solutions for improving operating procedure after Administrator gives them their Performance Evaluations.
  • Maintains Nursing Schedule.
  • Performs all duties with the established safety guidelines and CIHA policy.
  • Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.

           

Education /Experience        

  • An Associate Degree in Nursing is required
  • Bachelor degree is preferred
  • Work experience in long-term care supervision is required.
  • Current license as NC Nursing Home Administrator is preferred, if not currently licensed must obtain within 1 year.
  • If not currently licensed as a Nursing Home Administrator, the education and/or experience necessary to qualify as a candidate for license within 1 year is required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel are preferred.
  • Any secretarial and computer classes/experience are a plus.
